55-year-old farmer found dead

A 55-year-old farmer was found dead inside a well under suspicious circumstances in Shahpura area; reason of death remained unknown, said police.

Police said that the farmer identified as Munnalal Mali was found death inside the well, it was an accident or he committed suicide is under investigation.

The incident was reported when the farmer's wife reached the field to give him food but failed to find him and raised alert after he found her husband drowned in the well.

On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and after preliminary investigation the body was sent for post-mortem. The police is investigating whether the farmer fell in the well after he lost his balance or he committed suicide.

According to the Shahpura police Munnalal Mali, who lived in the area, was a farmer by profession. He lived with his family at a vegetable farm and he also used to cultivate flowers at the same farm.

On Saturday, at around 10 am, he reached his field as usual. At around 12:30 in the afternoon, when his wife reached the field with food, she failed to find her husband Munnalal in the field. While searching, the wife reached near the well and spotted that Munnalal drowned inside the well after which she sought for help and locals rushed to her help.

On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and fished the farmer out of the water but by the time he was taken out he had died. The relatives said that the deceased Munnalal was addicted to drinking alcohol. It is suspected that he must have drunk alcohol in the field as well and might have gone near the well and due to being drunk, he lost his balance, fell into it and died. The police have started investigating the case.
