Chief Minister Mohan Yadav stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country is entering a new era of cultural elevation.
Through spiritual and cultural renaissance, a new chapter in the preservation and promotion of local culture is being written. In this sequence of cultural transmission, the state has successfully hosted the golden jubilee of the International Khajuraho Dance Festival and the centenary of the Tansen Festival. Our country has always upheld the tradition of preserving its spiritual and cultural heritage. By connecting today’s generation with cultural events and heritage, five Guinness World Records in Tal Darbar, Kathak Kumbh, Ujjain Damru Vadan, Gita Recitation, and Classical Band have brought global recognition to the state’s culture and art.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav mentioned that during the Tansen Festival in Gwalior, the city of the great music maestro Tansen, 1,282 tabla players played in unison at the Gwalior Fort’s “Tal Darbar” to the tune of India’s national song Vande Mataram, giving Madhya Pradesh’s classical music global recognition. On December 25, 2023, this historic moment was recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records for the first time in the music city recognized by UNESCO, celebrating the state’s history, culture, and music.
Yadav highlighted that during the International Khajuraho Dance Festival on February 20, 2024, in the vast courtyard of the Kandariya Mahadev Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, 1,484 Kathak dancers synchronized their movements to the rhythm of Raag Basant, creating the second Guinness World Record. When these dancers, holding lamps in their hands, danced to the rhythm and beat, it brought Indian culture and tradition alive.
Dr. Yadav noted that during the holy Shravan month, on August 5, 2024, in Ujjain, over 1,500 Damru players performed synchronized damru beats on the Shaktipath of Mahakal Lok while welcoming Lord Mahakaleshwar, as he was taken on a procession. This third Guinness World Record was not just an achievement but also a declaration of the spiritual revival of the country from the city of Mahakal.
He further added that on the occasion of Gita Jayanti on December 11, 2024, 1,721 acharyas and students recited the third chapter, Karma Yoga, of the sacred scripture Srimad Bhagavad Gita, creating the fourth Guinness World Record. This historic event illuminated the world with Lord Krishna’s message of duty, devotion, and peace.
The Chief Minister also mentioned the centenary celebration of the Tansen Music Festival, keeping alive the ancient tradition of Indian classical music. During this grand event, 546 artists performed on nine classical instruments-violin, harmonium, sarangi, flute, sarod, santoor, shehnai, pakhawaj, and tabla-on the ramparts of the historic Gwalior Fort.
