The central region power distributor has electrified 3,876 homes in nine tribal-dominated districts of the region as part of the Prime Minister's campaign for tribal justice.
According to a communiqué from the Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company Limited, 355 homes in the region were electrified on 2 October to coincide with Gandhi Jayanti. The nine districts include Gwalior, Vidisha, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Datia, Guna, Raisen, and Bhind.
The company stated that it plans to electrify the remaining 10,942 tribal beneficiary households by December 2024 under the "Prime Minister's Tribal Justice Campaign" (Prime Minister Janman Yojana).
The scheme, among the key initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is progressing at a rapid pace in the region. Once completed, the scheme will energise a total of 1,158 villages and hamlets in the districts of Gwalior, Vidisha, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Datia, Guna, Raisen, and Bhind.
Pursuing the vision of Prime Minister Modi, the scheme will not only provide children from tribal families with opportunities for education, household work, and employment but also improve access to drinking water, street lighting, and basic amenities.
