Madhya Pradesh has been consistently registering its presence for the past four years at the top position in the country in the Pradhan Mantri Swa-Nidhi Yojana. Madhya Pradesh has received 11 awards at the national level and 44 awards at the state level for its outstanding performance in the Pradhan Mantri Swa-Nidhi Yojana. Under the scheme, 12 lakh 30 thousand beneficiaries of urban areas have been provided with loans of Rs 1769 crore 16 lakh for self-employment. Under the scheme, 4 lakh 89 thousand street vendors in Madhya Pradesh are successfully doing digital transactions, in which they have also received cashback of Rs 21 crore.
The Pradhan Mantri Swa-Nidhi Yojana was launched with the objective of strengthening the employment of street vendors and hand cart vendors in urban areas and to make them self-reliant by providing working capital of 10, 20 and 50 thousand rupees. Under the scheme of the Urban Development and Housing Department, a grant of Rs 1,000 each was also provided by the state government to the registered street vendors of the previously unorganised sector during the Corona period.
