Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that the Ladli Behna Yojana is a major step in fulfilling social responsibility. Initially, the scheme provided eligible beneficiaries with one thousand rupees per month, which was later increased to 1250 rupees, with plans for further increases.
Yadav announced another initiative for women’s empowerment: an increase in reservation for women in government services from 33 percent to 35 percent, marking a significant step forward. He emphasized that Madhya Pradesh is setting new benchmarks in empowering women. Additionally, he highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to women’s representation, with a recent announcement to grant 33 percent reservation for women in the legislature.
Chief Minister Yadav transferred Rs 1,573 crore as the November installment to 1.29 crore beneficiaries of the Ladli Behna Yojana during a programme at Nehru Stadium in Indore on Saturday. Additionally, he transferred Rs. 333 crore to 55 lakh social security pension beneficiaries and Rs. 55 crore for gas cylinder refills into the accounts of 26 lakh Ladli Behenas.
This event, titled "Shaurya Veera," featured a weapon art demonstration by Nari Shakti and was held in honor of the 300th birth anniversary of Lokmata Ahilya Devi. In a historic moment, thousands of girls and women set a world record by performing a synchronized swordsmanship demonstration at a single location, showcasing unity and strength.
Chief Minister Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh has a proud legacy of women empowerment, with many courageous women from the state playing key roles in defending the country’s honor and independence. India’s achievements in empowering women are recognized globally, and women’s empowerment remains a defining feature of our nation. Madhya Pradesh is advancing rapidly in this area, with initiatives like the "Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana-2023," designed to promote economic self-sufficiency for women, improve their health and nutrition, and strengthen their influence in family decisions.
The state government has also been consistently providing gas cylinders to Ladli sisters, alongside beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Gas Connection Yojana, at a subsidized rate of Rs 450 since July 2023. Through this programme, over 26 lakh women beneficiaries who have refilled their gas cylinders are receiving Rs 55.60 crore directly in their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts, facilitated by oil companies and the Madhya Pradesh Electronic Development Corporation. This subsidy is helping Ladli sisters reduce their household expenses by enabling them to access affordable LPG.
