A 37 year old woman kidnapped a two year old girl to satisfy her desire of motherhood from Delhi’s Rohini area.

According to the police on Sunday, on Saturday, the complainant, namely Mohd Kamrul Haq, resident of Vijay Vihar, reported that his two years girl had been kidnapped from the street of his house while she was playing in the street with an unknown woman.

“On the statement of the complainant, a case under section 137(2) of BNS was registered at Vijay Vihar police station and the investigation was taken up,” DCP Guriqbal Singh Sidhu said.

The accused has been Nirjala Devi, alias Preeti, who disclosed that she got married in the year 2017 in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr but they have no child out of this wedlock so far. “Therefore, in order to satisfy her desire of motherhood and to get rid of her image of a barren woman in her matrimonial home she decided to kidnap a child,” Sidhu added.

Further, he said that to materialize her plan, she had been living in Delhi away from her in-laws pretending that she is living in Patna.

“On Saturday, she saw the victim child playing in the street. She enticed the child with a packet of Kurkure and kidnapped her. She took the victim child to the house of her known in sector-5, Rohini,” the DCP stated.

The accused also informed her in-laws that she had delivered a baby and that she would come to Bulandshahr along with the baby shortly. “She further stated that she had planned to go to Bulandshahr along with the victim child girl in the afternoon of Sunday, but, before she could leave, the police team nabbed her.  Further investigation is in progress,” the DCP stated.
