The Delhi Police arrested two sharpshooters of Gogi gang, including a juvenile, following a brief encounter in connection with the extortion related firing incident in Alipur and Nangloi area.
According to the police on Tuesday, two separate incidents of shooting at property dealers’ offices in Nangloi and Alipur on Monday raised alarm among the general public.
A senior police official said, “The attackers, later identified as members of the notorious Gogi Gang, were involved in extortion activities targeting local businessmen. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, a police team immediately initiated an investigation, analyzing technical and manual inputs, including CCTV footage, which revealed that the same individuals were involved in both shootings.”
He added that the arrested shooter was identified as 18 year Akash Rathore, aged 18, a resident of Khera Khurd in Delhi, and other individual was found to be a juvenile.
“Through persistent investigation, a tip-off was received that two of the shooters, Akash and Hunny, would be arriving in Narela. At approximately 8:15 pm, the suspects were observed waiting on a scooty. Upon noticing the police, the suspects attempted to flee,” another officer said, adding that one suspect drew a firearm and aimed it at the officers, prompting an immediate response.
