Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee once again slammed the Centre for not performing its role to help her State fight natural calamities even as on Sunday she described the flood situation in North Bengal as "grim" and "alarming."
Banerjee, who had earlier attacked the Centre for not restraining Damodar Valley Corporation from releasing 5 lakh cusecs of water from the dams controlled by the authorities inundating as a result about 8 districts of South Bengal, on Sunday said that entire "North Bengal is reeling under flood."
Parts of Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, Malda Alipurduar and South Dinajpur getting flooded she said. "The Centre should have performed its duties properly … there is no dredging in Farakka which is why its water-bearing capacity has reduced to great extent," the Chief Minister who started for North Bengal said.
