Muslim League welcomes PV Anvar

Tuesday, 01 October 2024 | Kumar Chellappan | KOCHI

Muslim League in Kerala is preparing the stage ready for welcoming P V Anvar, the independent MLA from the Left Democratic Front to its fold. The Muslim League leadership is in talks with Congress leaders in the State for declaring Anvar, who has been declared a persona non-grata in the LDF by the CPI(M).

Since Anvar had ridiculed and humiliated Rahul Gandhi during the Lok Sabha polls by demanding a DNA test on the Leader of the Opposition, it may not be easy for the former to get into the Congress fold. What gives him relief is that the Muslim League is the “A” team of the Grand Old Party in the State and a phone call from League supremo Panakkadu Thangal in Malappuram to 10 Janpath in New Delhi would remove all hurdles, if any, in the path of Anvar.

Anvar, who declared additional director general of police M R Ajith Kumar as a criminal and P Sasi, the political secretary to chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan as a forest brigand went one step by describing N P Mohanan, the Malappuram district secretary as a stooge of the RSS.

The independent MLA who got elected from Nilambur with support from the CPI(M) has been behaving as a bull in a China shop by attacking all close confidantes of Vijayan. Though the CPI(M) leadership had suffered all humiliations meted out by Anvar as part of its appeasement politics, the time has come for the party to declare its stance viz-a-viz the independent MLA.

Though the public meetings convened by the dissident MLA drew big crowd in his constituency, only time alone would make it clear what the future holds for Anvar, said Althaf Roshan, a young CPI(M) leader in Malappuram district.
