Man killed, two injured in cross firing incident in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri

A 35-year-old man was killed while two others sustained bullet injuries in an incident of cross-firing in northwest Delhi's Jahangirpuri area.

According to police officials on Sunday, the deceased has been identified as Deepak alias Patrakar who had "Information was received from the Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial (BJRM) Hospital regarding a man brought with multiple bullet injuries, who was declared dead," a senior police officer said.

The officer said that subsequently, information was received from the hospital regarding the admission of two men including Narendra and Suraj with bullet injuries.

The officer added that a police team was rushed to the spot for a detailed investigation.

A preliminary inquiry revealed that there was a verbal spat between Deepak, his brother and others, and Narendra and Suraj at a park.

“On local enquiry it was found that Deepak, his brother and associates were standing in park 900 wali Gali jahangirpuri Delhi and two persons namely Narendra and Suraj came at 900 wali gali D-block jahangirpuri and both the parties talked and had hot arguments  with one another,” he stated.

"Both the parties opened fire at each other. Deepak sustained injuries on his neck, both legs and on his back. Narendra was hit by a bullet in his back and Suraj received injuries in his leg. Deepak was declared dead," the officer said, adding that an FIR under relevant legal provisions has been registered.

Another police officer said, “Both accused Narendra and Suraj are in custody and further search on for other co-accused persons”
