Contractual employees of Delhi University (DU) will get the benefit of Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) from October this year.
During the 1272nd meeting of the University of Delhi Executive Council (EC), which was held on Monday, under the chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh, approval was given to implement the EPF scheme for the contractual employees of Delhi University.
Singh said, “In accordance with the recommendations of the Finance Committee, after due deliberations on all kinds of legal complexities for the EPF scheme, it has been unanimously decided that DU will implement this scheme from October 2024.”
The EC meeting also approved the increase in contractual fees of Part Time Medical Officer (GDMO) on contract basis. “The existing payment of Rs. 45,000 per month of Part Time Contract Medical Officer (GDMO) working in WUSHC has been increased to Rs. 55,000 per month.
This payment will be effective from October, 2024, with an annual increase of 5 per cent from April 1 every year,” an official said.
He added that however, other terms of their appointment will remain unchanged. “Notional pay hike to the retiring employees of the University on retirement on 30th June/31st December respectively in accordance with the recommendations of the Finance Committee was also approved by the EC. The decision taken by the statutory bodies of the University may be sent to the UGC for approval,” he said.
“In accordance with the recommendations of the Finance Committee, the Office Memorandum No. 57/03/2022-P&PW (B)/8361 dated 26th October, 2022 issued by DoP&PW, Government of India, for availing benefits under the old pension scheme in case of death during service of a Government employee covered under the National Pension Scheme was also considered and approved by the Executive Council,” he added.
