In a shocking incident, a man from Delhi’s Vikas Puri received an outrageous water bill from Delhi Jal Board (DJB) of more than Rs 10 lakhs.
Commenting on the high bill, Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor stated that the DJB consumers are receiving outrageous bills, yet the Delhi government and AAP leaders are irresponsibly making statements instead of solving the issue, which is condemnable.
“Fomer Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is going around making anarchic statements in every street, claiming that consumers shouldn’t pay the increased water and electricity bills they are receiving, promising that he’ll waive them once he returns to power in February. In response, people are questioning why these incorrect bills cannot be fixed now when his government is already in place,” he added.
He also posted the bill of a consumer from West Delhi on social media, revealing that the DJB sent a bill of Rs. 10,49,000 for eight months, despite the fact that the consumer was abroad and his house was closed during that period.
The BJP spokesperson explained that a resident of Tilak Nagar constituency built his house in 2019, installed a new meter, and had been receiving bills around Rs 3,500 every two months, like any other middle-class consumer.
“The consumer paid his last bill in December 2023 and then went abroad. Upon returning just before Diwali, he was shocked to see a water bill exceeding Rs. 1 million,” he said.
He added that the consumer visited the local Z.R.O. office, but no action was taken. He then reached out to us for assistance and shared his bill. “Jal Board consumers are eager to know why leaders are making chaotic statements to wait until February-March, instead of correcting incorrect bills,” he added.
