Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Tuesday unveiled an Elephant Family Sculpture at RML Hospital Roundabout. The Sculpture has been installed and the roundabout redeveloped and beautified by New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj, Chairman, NDMC–Ashwani Kumar and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
After unveiling the five elephant family sculpture, Saxena lauded the initiative of the NDMC to enrich the aesthetic landscape of the city through meticulous planning. He said the NDMC has thoughtfully placed 35 sculptures at around 20 locations featuring exquisite creations such as Buddha, Marble lions, polo horse, horse family, Chariot and many others at prominent locations that are frequented by a large number of people including tourists every day.
“Hundreds of sculptures and artefacts have been installed across the city to enhance its aesthetics over the last two and half years. The elephant family installed at RML hospital roundabout is another addition to the efforts undertaken to beautify the city, Saxena said.
“The fountains installed here will not only reduce dust particles and air pollution but also reduce the surrounding temperature. The colourful lights with fountains installed at the roundabout will make these intersections and roadside statues even more beautiful at night, he added.
NDMC has redeveloped the RML roundabout having the diameter of 58 meters located opposite the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. The landscape plan envisions a transformation of this space into a lush, welcoming landscape and well planned pathways in sand stone.
To enhance functionality and aesthetics, NDMC constructed the low toe walls around the walkways, doubling as convenient seating areas. NDMC has made provision of Illuminating the area intelligently, the installation of light will prioritize providing a warm glow, ensuring visibility.
At the heart of the rejuvenated RML roundabout, NDMC has installed a majestic white stone Elephant Family to take centre stage, encircled by water channels having fountains all around. The gentle flow of water will add an element of peacefulness, turning the roundabout into more than just a traffic intersection but a retreat within the bustling City.
The silent features of the projects includes Elephant Family with five members (two big and three baby elephants) at the centre, Octagonal water body around the elephant family having 48 Fountains Nozzles, 80 nos. RGB LED lights and 4 nos. in the roundabout, 7.5 HP motors & other accessories and 08 nos. planters around the water body.
