The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, Government of India, and UNICEF on Wednesday issued a commemorative postage stamp marking 75 years of UNICEF’s partnership with India to realize the rights of children in India.
The special postage stamp valued at Rs 10 creatively represents a mother and a child to symbolize UNICEF’s mandate to protect and promote every child’s right to survive, thrive, and reach their full potential, especially the most vulnerable.
A mandate that resulted in landmark progress in India led by the Government of India and supported by UNICEF.
Colonel Akhilesh Pandey, Chief Postmaster General, Delhi Circle, Department of Posts in his address lauded the exemplary journey of UNICEF from 1949 till date and works of UNICEF in promoting and supporting children and young people at risk, reaching every child in need and protecting children’s rights to survive, thrive and reach their full potential.
Addressing the gathering, Shombi Sharp, UN Resident Coordinator for India, said, “Today, the release of the UNICEF@75 Commemorative Postage Stamp is a celebration of collaboration, shared values, and a commitment to the rights and futures of children—the very essence of progress.
