‘Digital arrest’ gang nabbed

Delhi Police has arrested three members of “digital arrest gang” who cheated a woman of Rs 2 lakh by putting her under so-called ‘digital detention’.

According to the police, the accused have been identified as Tasim Ahmad (31), Aman Sharma (29), and Dharmesh Chandulal Soni (48). “The complainant, who works as a graphic designer with a MNC, filed a Digital Arrest/ Financial fraud complaint to which she inadvertently became a part of. On September 29, she received a call in the name of FedEx Courier Services about a suspicious parcel registered in her name and Aadhar number,” a senior police official said, adding that as per the caller the parcel contained illegal items including drugs. The officer said based on the woman’s complaint a team nabbed three people on October 28.
