Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited is likely to introduce a one time settlement scheme for liquidating the arrears.
The scheme is likely to be implemented from March 15 till the end of the current fiscal 2022-23 -- March 31.

Those availing of the OTS will get the benefit of waiver of surcharge and the total reduction in bill amount is estimated to be around 30 per cent. The number of the power consumers is a little over two crore in Uttar Pradesh.
The accumulated financial losses of the UPPCL are close to Rs 96,000 crore while the total arrears to be recovered from the domestic category of power consumers is over Rs 23,000 crore besides over Rs 10,000 crore arrears of the government departments and local bodies. The outstanding on the farmers is Rs 4,500 crore and Rs 3,600 crore on the commercial categories of the consumers.
