Two BJP MPs from Chhattisgarh quit

Thursday, 07 December 2023 | Staff Reporter | RAIPUR

Two BJP MPs from Chhattisgarh, Arun Sao and Gomati Sai, resigned on Wednesday in New Delhi as members of the Lok Sabha. They are among the 10 who have quit as MPs.

Sao and Sai won Assembly elections from Lormi and Pathalgaon respectively.

The move has given rise to speculation that the party leadership may bring in new faces at the helm in all three states where the BJP won Assembly elections: Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

BJP president J.P. Nadda accompanied the 10 as they tendered their resignations from Parliament.

Two others, Union Minister Renuka Singh from Chhattisgarh and Mahant Balaknath from Rajasthan, will also be quitting, party leaders said.

Submitting his resignation, Sao said: “The benefit of the meditation done in Parliament is dedicated at the feet of Chhattisgarh Mahatari.

“The BJP has entrusted me with the responsibility of contributing to the service of Chhattisgarh Mahtari,” he said.

The two took blessings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and thanked Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla for his support.
