Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Tuesday hailed the clearance of three criminal justice bills by the President.
Taking to ‘X’, Sai said: “It will replace as many colonial-era acts as a watershed moment in India’s history. It marks the beginning of a new era with laws centred on public service and welfare."
He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for the new provisions.
President Droupadi Murmu on Monday gave assent to the three new criminal law bills passed by Parliament last week.
The Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 will replace the IPC, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita will replace the CrPC and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam will replace the Indian Evidence Act.
