Around 90 students from National Institute of Technology of Rourkela participated in the Quiz competition organised at NIT, Rourkela by the Vigilance Department of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) on 15th October to mark the ensuing Vigilance Awareness Week 2023. Dr. K Uma Maheshwar Rao, Director NIT Rourkela was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Soumit Kumar, GM (Vigilance) & Acting ACVO, RSP, Prof. Sidhartha S Jena,Dean Student Welfare, NIT, Rourkela, Prof. Rajeev Kumar Panda, President (SAC), NIT, Rourkela and Rohan Dhiman, Registrar NIT, Rourkela, were also present on the occasion.The dignitaries handed over the trophies and mementoes to the winners and finalists of the Quiz Competition.
Out of the 45 participating teams, 8 were selected for the final round. The competitions were based on this year's Vigilance Awareness Week 2023 theme that is "Say no to corruption; commit to the Nation”
Speaking on the occasion Dr. K Uma Maheshwar Rao, Director NIT Rourkela commended the efforts of the organisers and shed light on the all inclusive nature of corruption which is not only about money but also regarding immoral attitude and behavior. He urged all to end corruption by raising voices and awareness.
At the outset Prof. Rajeev Kumar Panda, delivered the inaugural address. Soumit Kumar, delivered his address while Sandeep Bansal, AGM (Vigilance) proposed a formal vote of thanks. Arpan Chakraborty,Student of NIT,Rourkela coordinated the event.
Earlier, on 6th October, 2023 the quiz competition was organized at Delhi Public School, Rourkela for the students of Class XI and XII by the Vigilance Department of RSP. The Quiz competition was conducted in 2 rounds. 52 students in 26 teams participated in the first written round out of which 6 teams comprising 12 students qualified for the 2nd and final oral round. Siddharth Rath, Principal, DPS presided over the event. Smitha R Athreya and Himali Sehgal were the Quiz Masters and moderated the entire session.
