Chhattisgarh Police on Monday arrested a 38-year-old man from New Delhi and brought him here for cheating a grain merchant of Rs 2.55 crore in 2021.
Raipur Additional Superintendent of Police (Urban) Abhishek Maheshwari said Amit Goyal has been taken into custody.
Goyal is one of the directors of Kiya Agro Industries Pvt Ltd in Thane in Maharashtra.
Two other directors, Anil Maurya and Hrishabh Maurya, were arrested earlier.
They cheated Prashant Sharma of Raipur by promising him higher profit after exporting the latter’s rice.
Sharma bought rice worth Rs 2.55 crore from local rice millers and handed over the consignment to them.
The three sold the consignment but did not pay Sharma. After arrest, Goyal confessed to cheating Sharma.
