A national poetry recitation was held at the Lohia Academy here under the auspices of quarterly English literary journal “The Rock Pebbles”.
The event was presided over by noted writer, critic and eminent litterateur and former Principal of Vyasanagar College Prof Dr Kusha Chandra Pradhan. Internationally-acclaimed writer and philosopher Daya Disha Nayake of Sri Lanka joining the show opined that literature is the only medium that can ensure a sustainable healthy life against the backdrop of rank consumerism and godless materialism.
Guest of honour, translator and critic Snehaprabha Dash discussed the usefulness of translation. Senior poet Dr Saroj Kumar Padhi discussed in detail relating to modern English poetry. The poetry collection of Rock Pebbles published in the month of June was released by the chief guest.
At the outset Editor- in- chief of the journal Dr Udayanath Majhi read out a detailed report of the organisation. Hundreds of poets from across the country and abroad read out their poems in English, Hindi, Urdu and Odia. While the meeting was conducted by Dr Sahadev Mallick, the poetry recitation was well compered by Rajbabu Gandham from Hyderabad, Hemanta Jena and Swapna Behera. Sudhansu Raybarman proposed the vote of thanks.
