Need to encourage youth towards sports: Himachal Governor
Shimla: A delegation of Him Sports and Cultural Association, Shimla led by its President called on Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla at Raj Bhavan on Friday. He invited the Governor as the Chief Guest in the inauguration of the cricket tournament being organized by the Association in Shimla from June 10 this year. The Governor congratulated the Association for organizing the sports event and said that such efforts could definitely prove effective in connecting the youth with society and against evils like drug abuse. He said that today there was a need to encourage youth towards sports and such events are positive steps in this direction. He said that today there was a need to encourage sports in a big way. On the occasion, Principal Advisor (Media) to the Chief Minister, Naresh Chauhan apprised the Governor that the Him Sports and Cultural Association organize cricket and other cultural activities every year. He said that the purpose of organizing such events was to promote sports among the youth and to involve them in constructive and positive activities.
Hry CM launches Mukhyamantri Tirth Darshan Yojana on his birthday
Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday launched the Mukhyamantri Tirth Darshan Yojana on his birthday on Friday. Under the scheme, the Chief Minister flagged off the first batch of buses, carrying about 200 senior citizens from Panchkula for Ayodhya Yatra from May 5 to May 8. The buses will reach Ambala Cantt and from there the passengers will travel to Ayodhya via train. The state government will bear the travel expenses of these passengers. Khattar said that the Mukhyamantri Tirth Yojana, which has been started from Panchkula will be implemented in the entire state; under which arrangements will be made to send senior citizens above 60 years of age for pilgrimage.
Hry CS reviews progress of land demarcation and pillar installation along the Yamuna River
Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal on Friday held a review meeting of the progress made in land demarcation and pillar installation along the Yamuna River, spanning from Yamunagar to Palwal. During the meeting, the Mission Director, Lt. General Girish Kumar disclosed that the Survey of India would soon commence the demarcation of land in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, along the Yamuna River. The Chief Secretary stressed the importance of completing the demarcation work within a specified timeframe and instructed officers of the mining department to work in coordination with the Survey of India. He also requested the Mission Director to regularly review the progress of the demarcation work with officers from the Survey of India, Revenue, and Mining Departments. The design of the pillars had been finalized by the Panjab Engineering College, Chandigarh.
Himachal govt issues SOP for implementation of Old Pension Scheme
Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh government has issued a standard operating procedure (SOP) for the implementation of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for the 1.36 lakh state employees. According to the SOP, employees, who wish to be covered under OPS or want to remain under the National Pension System (NPS), will have to choose an option within 60 days from the date of issue of these instructions. Once exercised, the option would be final and irrevocable and in case the option is not exercised within 60 days by an employee, it would be deemed that the employee wishes to continue under the NPS, an office memorandum said. The Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government had taken a decision to implement the OPS in its first cabinet meeting in March. The decision would put a burden of Rs 1,000 crore on the state exchequer during the financial year 2023-24.

Chandigarh: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption has arrested Barinder Kumar, resident of village Tura, Jalandhar district and his wife Deepak Bala, for colluding with other accused who had sold land in village Karura, Rupnagar district to the state government at a price much higher than the prevalent collector rate causing a huge loss to the state exchequer.
New features in Haryana-eSamiksha portal to enhance accountability and transparency
Chandigarh: The Haryana Government will be introducing a new feature on the Haryana-eSamiksha portal to enable Administrative Secretaries and Head of Departments to monitor the follow-up actions taken on decisions made during their meetings and presentations. This was discussed during a meeting led by the Chief Secretary, Sanjeev Kaushal, along with officers from the Human Resource Department and National Informatics Centre. Haryana-eSamiksha is a real-time online system designed to monitor follow-up actions taken on decisions made during presentations by Administrative Secretaries and Head of Departments. The system can also be configured to review follow-up actions from other meetings, if necessary. Kaushal informed that the portal will provide updates on file number, meeting date, chairperson, meeting description, and other documents such as the minutes of meeting (MOM), which can be accessed by officers of the concerned departments. Additionally, the portal facilitates the automatic tracking of action points, proposals, issues, projects, schemes, and targets, starting from online submission to compliance.
