DU OK’s 90 per cent fee waiver for poor students

Delhi University on Friday approved waiver of up to 90 per cent fee for those students coming from families having less than four lakh annual income. Such student can further be provided assistance under the Financial Support Scheme for economically weak students. At the 1267th meeting of the Executive Council of DU meeting it was approved that students whose parent’s income is between Rs 4 to 8 lakh, will get 50 per cent fee waiver.

The meeting was presided over by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Yogesh Singh where the recommendations made in the meeting of the Finance Committee of the University held on August 17, 2023 were approved.

Under this, the university’s un-audited annual accounts, hall and hostel, provident fund and national pension scheme were approved unanimously for the financial year 2022-23. Apart from these, the revision of budget estimates of some departments for the financial year 2023-24 was also accepted. Further, the recommendations of the Committee constituted for revision of rates of remuneration payable to various levels of employees engaged in Central Evaluation Centers (CES), were also approved by the Executive Council. 

Similarly, the revision in the rates of remuneration payable at various levels for the conduct of practical examinations was accepted and the recommendation of the committee that wherever the word `annual’ occurs, it may be read as ‘semester’ was also approved.

During the EC meeting, the recommendations made in the 1015th meeting of the Academic Council (AC) were considered.

Under this, among other things, the syllabi for the fourth, fifth and sixth semesters for various departments and colleges according to the Undergraduate Curriculum Framework-2022 (UGCF-2022), was approved.
