Himachal CM launches website & promo of Pre-World Cup Paragliding event

Shimla: Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday launched the official website and promo for the upcoming Pre-World Cup Paragliding competition, to be held from 26th October at Bir-Billing in Kangra district.  Till date, around 159 participants from 28 countries have got themselves registered for the event being organized jointly by the Billing Paragliding Association and the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation. Para gliders from the United States, Australia, New Zealand, France, Sweden, Germany, China, South Africa, Belgium, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Kazakhstan, Norway, Nepal, Vietnam, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Canada, and the paragliding teams of  Indian Air Force, Army, and Navy will be participating in the event and will be given ranking as per the International norms. Sukhu said that known as the 'Paragliding Capital of India', Bir-Billing has gained a global reputation in the world of paragliding. Apart from this the Bir-Billing is also famous for trekking, mountain biking, spiritual studies etc.  

4 killed, 11 injured as car hits auto-rickshaw in Palwal

Palwal/Chandigarh: In a tragic incident, as many as four women died and 11 passengers were injured as the auto-rickshaw in which they were traveling met with an accident near Ghughera village on the Palwal-Nuh road on Sunday night. The accident took place around 8 pm when the auto-rickshaw carrying around 15 passengers was hit by a speeding car from the rear. The car driver fled after the accident. The deceased had come from Gurwari village and were on their way to Kaliyaka village in Nuh district following a death in the family. The deceased have been identified as Gulkandi, 70; Ramwati, 65; Angoori, 68: and Kailashi, 30. The injured have been admitted to various hospitals. The police have started an investigation.

Himachal Governor visits border areas of Kinnaur district

Shimla: On his first visit to the border areas adjoining Kinnaur district on Monday, Himachal Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla interacted with the Jawans at army base camp Sumdoh and also met the Indo-Tibet Border Police (ITBP) jawans at Lepcha, a forward post of ITBP at an altitude of 13000 feet.  Appreciating the valour of Indian forces guarding the nation in adverse topographical conditions, the Governor said that serving in a harsh climate, in sub-zero temperatures was not an easy task and said that the Indian forces were keeping a hawk's eye on every activity of other side of the border. 

MCC for strengthening waste management among street vendors

Chandigarh: To strengthen waste management among street vendors, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh provided twin litter bins to its registered Street Food Vendors during the Swacchhta Pakhwada 2023 - Swachhata hi Seva campaign.  Aimed to raise awareness and sensitize vendors about waste segregation at their vending sites, City Mayor Anup Gupta and Municipal Commissioner Anindita Mitra, distributed twin litter bins to its registered vendors at MCC office premises on Monday.
