Bird flu case detected from nine month girl at RIMS

Bird flu case has been detected in State. This infection has been found in a 9-month-old girl. RIMS Director Dr. Rajeev Kumar Gupta has informed that a nine-month-old girl resident of Sandwadih in Ramgarh has been found suffering from this infection. Virus of Avian flu (H3N2) has been found in this girl.

The girl's sample was sent to Pune and confirmed from there too. According to the information received from the Department of Microbiology, the sample of the girl child was taken on Thursday. After its investigation, bird flu was confirmed in it. This virus is a subtype virus of influenza A. Patients infected with this have been found in many parts of the country. In the month of March this year, this virus had killed many people. Cases of its infection started increasing. Now RIMS has sent the sample to NIV, Pune lab for sequencing. It has been confirmed from there also. The condition of the child is critical. He has been put on oxygen support.

Agriculture department said we have no information about bird flu in birds

This case of infection is a cause of concern but it is a matter of relief that only one patient has come forward so far. The girl child is undergoing treatment. No other case has been reported in the state though the health department is alert about it. On the other hand, the Agriculture Department is also clearly saying that till now they  have not received any information about bird flu in birds in the state.

This is not the first time that Avian Influenza or Bird Flu has hit Jharkhand. Even before this, many cases of this have come to the fore. Taking strict action, the Agriculture Department investigated it and destroyed infected chickens and chickens in many poultry farms.
