28 inmates to be released from prisons across State

The 29th meeting of the Jharkhand State Sentence Revision Board held in the Ministry of Jharkhand under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday. In the meeting, a review was done regarding the release of 41 prisoners serving life sentence in various jails of the state. In the meeting, it was agreed to release 28 prisoners. In the course of the review, approval was given for the release of 28 prisoners who were serving life sentences in various jails of the state, after a thorough discussion on the views of the Courts, Superintendent of Police, Jail Superintendent and Probation Officer of the concerned districts.

In the meeting, Chief Minister Hemant Soren told the officials that social rehabilitation of the prisoners whose release was confirmed in the Jharkhand State Sentence Revision Board meeting is necessary. The officials of the concerned department should prepare a better action plan and work to connect these prisoners with the mainstream of the society. Ensure continuous tracking and monitoring of the activities of such prisoners after their release from jail. The CM directed the officers that counselling of these prisoners should also be done from time to time. After coming out of jail, there should not be any hindrance in the life of these prisoners socially and economic problems should not arise, for this purpose, the work of connecting them with self-employment should also be done.

Additional Chief Secretary, Home Jail and Disaster Management Department, Avinash Kumar, Director General of Police, Ajay Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Vandana Dadel, Principal Secretary-cum-Legal Adviser, Law (Justice) Department, Nalin Kumar, Secretary to the Chief Minister, Vinay Kumar Choubey, Judicial Commissioner Arun Kumar Rai, Inspector General of Prisons Uma Shankar Singh and other senior officials were present in the meeting.

Meanwhile, in another development, the CM gave approval to the proposal to revise the special facility/allowance given to all the police officers/personnel working in Jharkhand Jaguar (STF) in the light of 7th PRC and approval of the Council of Ministers.

In the posts of Special Task Force (STF), the posts of Inspector General of Police to Constable on the basis of rotation of three years, on the basis of deputation/posting from Jharkhand Armed Police Force, District Executive Force and similar police forces and remaining posts will be filled by STF 50 per cent of the basic pay of 7th PRC to all the officers/personnel working in Special Task Force (STF) in the state. Rs 2400 per month as ration expenditure to all officers and personnel up to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police. Rs 9000 to all the officers from Assistant Police Sub-Inspector to Deputy Superintendent of Police and Rs. 8000 to all personnel of Havildar and constable category as annual uniform allowance. Allowance and other special facilities are proposed to be paid from the date of issue of the order. From May 2019 till the date of issue of allowance revision order, the officials/personnel working in Jharkhand Jaguar and who have worked during this period will get basic pay according to the 7th pay scale. 50 per cent of STF Allowance and STF paid during the said period. The difference amount of allowance is also to be paid as arrears.

For strengthening the said facility, STF is proposed to be equally effective on the additional posts sanctioned by the State Government from time to time.
