The power of Gratitude

Being grateful will make an individual healthier and happier

Every time a person says a sincere thank you to someone or thinks about a time when someone helped them in crisis or listened to them when they were feeling low or gives them a shoulder to cry on forms a part of gratitude. The term gratitude is the act of recognizing and acknowledging the good things that happen, resulting in a state of appreciation. It is one of the sweet shortcuts to finding peace of mind and happiness inside and is synonymous with appreciation, acknowledgement and respect. Gratitude is one of the most powerful forms of energy generated by a person. It is like magic. No matter how the day is going, simple acts of gratitude can bring thoughts, feelings, and energy in an instant, thereby shifting the perspective and helping make ordinary moments turn extraordinary.

It is a tool for life. There are several benefits of practicing gratitude such as it reduces stress; enhances relationships; improves self-care, eases depression, improves sleep; enhances empathy; boosts dopamine and serotonin; elevates the mood and many more. Research shows that gratitude increases positivity, helps sleep better, improves self-esteem and reduces stress. It is like a magnet for abundance as it aligns with the energy of abundance. Gratitude is strongly related to well-being.

Gratitude is like a short, light-hearted poem accompanied by animation. Being grateful will make an individual healthier and happier. It can be expressed in multiple ways. Sometimes a smile or a handshake, instead of a thank you for acknowledging the junior at work for taking the initiative to ease one’s workload or being thankful to teachers and mentors for their support and guidance or being grateful to ourselves for being financially independent and many more can do the trick.

Gratitude is the key to a happy life and should be practiced daily. It is a perspective – a choice. People feel and express gratitude in multiple ways. It helps people refocus on what they have instead of what they lack. And, although it may feel contrived at first, this mental state grows stronger with use and practice.

Practising gratitude and appreciation keeps an individual mentally strong. It assists people in feeling more positive in emotions, appreciating good experiences, improvising their health, dealing with adversity and developing stronger relationships. Gratitude allows people to refocus on what they have rather than what they lack. And while it may appear contrived at first, this mental state strengthens with time and practice. Being grateful and appreciating one’s own life as it is, is necessary for truly enjoying it. Gratitude and appreciation can help to fortify a person in times of adversity and strengthen their relationships. Being grateful for the situation even if the person doesn’t like everything about it, allows them to be thankful for the opportunity to learn something new.

Remember, to always make a point to appreciate life. Doing this makes an individual already on the way to success. It takes a deep sense of self to realize the place in the world without simply going through the motions. One can spend hours at work or while away time at home. But if one can take a moment to appreciate everything one has, one can approach life with a positive mindset and be successful and that is the mantra to success.
