The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday rallied behind Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain and termed his arrest as a "witch hunt" by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Government at the Centre.
"The Prime Minister is on a witch hunt against the Aam Aadmi Party with full force. We're seeing vicious campaigns especially against the governments of Delhi and Punjab.
Lies are being spread over and over. He may have the muscle of all his agencies but God is with us," Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted.
While addressing the media, the AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj accused the BJP of twisting facts and said, “PM Modi's ED gave a clean chit to Satyendar Jain through its Seizure Memo. It clearly states that Rs 2.79 lakh were found but not seized as they were accounted for.
The Modi Government's image was shattered at the international level due to the BJP so it started a fake news campaign against Jain claiming cash & gold were found in the raid."
"The BJP on the other hand is a nexus of bigots of such high calibre that they started their vicious campaign today. After all, the Centre had chosen its favorite puppet for the job and had to save the image of the Centre and the ED," added Bhardwaj.
"In such a circumstance, it is necessary to take note of the 'Punchnama' or the 'Seizure Memo' of the ED.
The memo states, ‘as a result of the search, various documents, one digital device and two locker keys were seized. Indian currency totalling Rs 2 lakh, 79 thousands and 200 rupees was also recovered during the search’," said Bhardwaj. He went ahead to call the raid and the subsequent fake news to be a desperate move of spreading lies. "The BJP's Central Government felt insulted that despite their best efforts they couldn't find anything against him.
They searched his house from 7 in the morning to 2 in the night yet had nothing to implicate him in. But they still had to save face so BJP leaders started spreading lies on social media to slander the AAP," he concluded. AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said that the accusations were baseless and nothing incriminating was found during the raid. He tweeted, "Nothing has been found at Shri Satyendar Jain's house. They're maliciously calling a random person to be his aide to implicate him. The BJP is making these accusations in frustration of not finding anything at Satyendar Jain's house. Only Rs 2 lakh 79 thousand rupees have been found at his house. Everything else is a lie."
