Sunday, 03 April 2022 | PNS | Jamshedpur

After taking Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited’s (BSNL) Jamshedpur Business Area (BA) to newer heights, Sanjeev Verma, the longest-serving general manager stepped down today to be replaced by Dashrath Mahto as the new general manager. The change of guards took place at the BSNL office near Golmuri Post Office this afternoon.

Verma, who is known for expanding the reach of the state telecom, was posted here for five years and eight months. He has been transferred to BSNL‘s Bihar circle where he will serve as general manager ( CFA ) at Patna.

The new GM Mahto worked at the Jamshedpur Business Area as DGM ( Administration and Planning). Sanjay Singh took charge of the DGM.

Verma thanked the employees and family members of BSNL Jamshedpur and said that he will take up the new assignment in Patna on April 6.

“ I am happy to enter the next phase of my professional life. My achievements during my tenure were because of my team. I was blessed with hardworking people. Despite the odds, we could achieve inclusive growth. We worked towards brand building and tapping new markets, ” said Verma in his farewell address.

He went on to add that focus will be on Fibre- to- the – home ( FTTH ) service which also brought laurels to the Jamshedpur Business Area.

In Jamshedpur, where the Bharat Air Fibre service was launched in August last year, 900 connections are being added per month.

Jamshedpur BA has 10969 FTTH connections and is only the 5th SSA in the Eastern Zone with more than 10,000 connections, the other four are Port Blair, Bhubaneshwar, Cuttack and Kolkata.

“BSNL was also proud to be associated with SAFF U-18 Women’s Championship 2022 held at J.R.D. Sports Complex Jamshedpur. BSNL, a main infrastructure provider along with our business partner shankar infotech has provided the internet leased lines for uninterrupted streaming of live matches,” said an official.

The telecom major also caters to the high-speed internet service at the Adityapur-based National Institute of Technology ( NIT ), Kolhan University, schools and various other educational and business organisations under Jamshedpur Business Area.
