Public Works Minister Gopal Bhargava has said that 99 roads under construction in the state will be completed by July 2023 and remaining incomplete and newly approved road construction works will be completed by April 2024.
An amount of Rs 1373 crore has been sanctioned by the Central Government for the completion of 2 new roads and 107 incomplete roads. Minister Bhargava has expressed gratitude to the Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman for the approval.
Bhargava has instructed the officers of the department to ensure that the works of new and incomplete road construction are completed with quality and within the stipulated time-frame. He said that after the completion of two new and 107 incomplete roads, traffic would be smooth in about 15 districts of the state.
Principal Secretary, Public Works Neeraj Mandloi informed that under the Centrally Funded Special Assistance for Capital Expenditure 2022-23, a loan of Rs 1373 crore 27 lakh has been sanctioned by the Union Finance Ministry.
This amount will have to be returned by the state government in the next 50 years. He said that with this amount, approval has been given for the construction of two new roads from Rewa-Biohari to Tetka Mod at a cost of Rs 125 crore and Narmadapuram-Pipariya road at a cost of Rs.70 crore 57 lakh. Along with these unfinished works, Elevated Corridor Bridge Indore City LIG Square to Navlakha Square 70 crore 50 lakh, Sehore-Ichhawar-Kosmi 97 crore 50 lakh, Manawar-Umarban-Kalibawdi Dhamnod 89 crore 5 lakh, Hathaikheda Dam to Mount Force School Raisen Road 83 crore 35 lakh, Nasrullaganj-Kosmi 42 crore 34 lakh, High Level Bridge Narmada River Omkareshwar 40 crore 25 lakh, Narsinghpur Sankal Gotegaon Major District Road 40 crore, Kaliasot Dam New Bypass Road 32 crore 31 lakh, Jabalpur University to Dumna Road 30 crore, Railway Over Bridge Khandwa-Akola Meter Gauge Section 27 Crore 25 Lakh, High Level Bridge Behari-Katni to Vijaysota Road 13 Crore 12 Lakh and Baiharpur-Maksi-Bhopal road with cost of Rs 21.94 crore.
