Recalling the courage of Sikh Gurus on the occasion of Veer Bal Diwas (Sahibzada Diwas), Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the sacrifice of Sikh Gurus inspires us.
“Guru Gobind Singh sacrificed his four Sahibzadas to protect the culture and religion of India. This day is an occasion to express gratitude to the four sons of Guru Gobind Singh, namely Ajit Singh, Fateh Singh, Zorawar Singh and Jujhar Singh.”
At an event organised at his official residence, the chief minister provided clothes to the ‘sangat’ and visitors and also released a book. The chief minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for declaring December 26 as Veer Bal Diwas (Sahibzada Day).
He said: “Mata Gujri dedicated her life to upholding the duty of safeguarding culture and religion till the very end. When Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj was asked that his four sons were martyred for India while protecting religion, he said ‘chaar mue to kya bhaya, jeevit kaee hajaar’.”
Veer Bal Diwas connects with the history and provides an opportunity to bow down to the Sikh Gurus who are giving strength from devotion, he added.
The chief minister continued by stating that he also saluted the fine tradition of making sacrifices for religion. “I am happy to see that work has begun to make India’s history available as illustrations in books. I had requested this earlier because if we don’t, people will lose track of these Sahibzade,” he said.
Two sons were martyred on the battlefield, while Baba Zorawar and Fateh Singh died after suffocating inside a brick enclosure.
