Tuesday, 12 October 2021 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

Leading property developer Z Estates Private Ltd has filed a defamation suit of Rs 1 crore against eight office-bearers of the Residents Welfare Association (RWA) of Z-1 Advait.Company managing director Tapan Kumar Mohanty filed the case against the RWA officer-bearers accusing them of levelling false and baseless allegations and making defamatory statements about the firm.

In the petition filed in the Bhubaneswar Civil Judge (Senior Division) Court, Mohanty said the RWA members attempted to malign his reputation at a Press conference by claiming that the constructions have been done without approved building plan, non-obtaining of VAT registration and fire safety NOC and use of substandard materials.

He further alleged that during Covid-19 lockdown, these office-bearers and few members of the RWA had forcibly attempted to take physical possession and management of the club house, which is meant for use of residents of all phases of Z-1. A complaint was filed at Infocity police station in this regard on June 14. Another complaint against office-bearers was filed with Infocity police on July 27.
