Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited claimed to have maintained record supply in rural and urban areas by supplying 512.285 million units in a single day to consumers across the state in July.
The power utility maintained that it ensured 18 to 22 hours of power supply in rural areas, almost 24 hours supply in urban areas and replaced old transformers, thereby strengthening the power distribution network.
Currently, the state is experiencing a heat wave along with sultry weather leading to sharp hike in power demand from all categories of consumers, including agriculturists. The government is making all possible efforts to provide uninterrupted electricity across the state.
Top UPPCL sources said that old transformers which were not in good condition were being replaced and repair of power distribution lines was also being carried out on a war footing across the state. They said efforts were also in full swing to ensure that farmers and entrepreneurs could get adequate electricity.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also instructed officers not to make unnecessary cuts and supply electricity at all places according to the fixed roster.
The state government has directed officials to take strict action against the power pilferers and raids are being conducted across the state by the enforcement teams of UPPCL. To prevent power theft, instructions have been given to recover double the bill amount from the guilty.
It is worth noting that the Yogi Adityanath government has given free power connections to more than 1.38 crore houses during its tenure. Not only this, electricity has reached around 1.4 lakh revenue villages and 2.84 lakh mazras. The UP government has also directed officers to resolve any kind of problems faced by the consumers and conduct daily reviews of problems and conduct night patrolling to solve those problems related to power consumers.
