Nishad Party has demanded 70 seats from the Bharatiya Janata Party for contesting at the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
Nishad Party chief Sanjay Nishad said that the Nishad community had influence in over 160 seats and his party had demanded 70 seats from the BJP. He also claimed that only the party contesting the 2022 Assembly elections in alliance with Nishad Party would be able to form the next government in Uttar Pradesh.
Sanjay Nishad’s son Pravin Nishad is a BJP MP from Sant Kabir Nagar constituency.
Addressing media persons in Lucknow on Wednesday, Sanjay Nishad targeted Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party, saying, “The Nishad community can never trust both these parties as they practiced double standards and instead of attacking the BJP government, both parties should do self-introspection, as the SP, BSP regimes were marked by atrocities on the poor and the Dalits.”
Nishad further said that political leaders and parties making tall claims of working for the Dalits stood exposed as many leaders took the community’s votes by changing the colour of their ‘kurtas’ and that practice would no longer be allowed.
He said that during the recent national convention of Nishad Party in Lucknow, delegates from 10 states and 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh participated and a statue of Nishad Raja would be installed in Shringverpuran in Prayagraj district.
Listing the demands of Nishad Party from the BJP, Nishad said that a coaching centre be set up in each district for the students of all caste and communities, the event of Nishad Raja meeting Bhagwan Ram be included in school curriculum and pending cases against members of the Nishad community be withdrawn as was done in other cases.
Demanding reservation for the Nishad community, he said that all river ghats and the control of water bodies be restored to the community.
Sanjay Nishad became evasive when asked about his possible induction into the Yogi Adityanath cabinet but said that he had met the BJP top brass including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP president JP Nadda. It is being widely speculated that Sanjay Nishad is likely to be nominated as a member of UP Legislative Council.
