NFDC begins shooting of the new Manipuri feature film

National Film Development Corporation Limited (NFDC) along with the Co-Producer Oli Pictures owned by Haobam Paban Kumar has commenced shooting for the Manipuri Feature Josephki Macha (Joseph’s Son) from  November 12, 2021 abiding by all the health guidelines amidst Covid-19 pandemic.

The film will be shot in a start-to-finish schedule. The film is Directed by Haobam Paban Kumar and written by Sudhir Naoroibam. 

Josephki Macha is an adventure, drama featuring the Padma Shri Awardee Guru Rewben Mashangva in the lead role alongside other prominent cast.

The film will be extensively shot in Tuinem, Ringui, Somdal, Keithelmanbi, Noney areas in the state of Manipur.

The film is part of the new slate of films that are under production from NFDC Ltd. Chhaad (The Terrace), a Bengali feature and Korangi Nunchi (Who will marry Thomas?), a Telugu Feature film which are currently in Post-Production, while Bangabandhu, Directed by Padma Bhushan awardee Shyam Benegal - a biopic feature on the life of the Former Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Mujibur Rahman named, a Indo-Bangladesh Co-Production is also part of the NFDC’s new slate of productions is under closing stages of Production.

Josephki Macha explores the protagonist’s road journey along the valley and his relationship with the nature and the neighbourhood communities. 

The film is in Manipuri dialect and is multilingual which talks about the integrity and brotherhood in the society. Living in the traumatic time of both ethnic and armed conflicts people even forgot to mourn for the dearest ones as they are afraid of appreciating personal losses.

A father makes a journey unwillingly to identify the body of his dead son and eventually reconciles.
