The Jharkhand High Court on Thursday directed DGP of Jharkhand Police and Sahebganj police to submit all original documents before the court related to investigation of the alleged suicide case of assistant sub inspector of Jharkhand Police Rupa Tirkey.
She was posted at Mahila police station of Sahebganj district.
The court passed the order while hearing a petition where the petitioner has sought a CBI inquiry of the case stating that Jharkhand police can’t investigate the case impartially due to involvement of a high-profile person.
The court orally observed that this is a serious matter related to the death of a police official. The court will take up the next hearing of this case on August 9. The court also asked the DGP about the progress made in the investigation.
In another development the court the court also heard the matter related to blackmarketing of Remdesivir, the lifesaving medicine of Covid 19. The court was not satisfied with the investigation carried by special task force so far. The CID investigating the case has already submitted chargesheet against Rajeev Singh and Manish Sinha in Remdesivir blackmarketing case. Rajeev Singh, a resident of Kanke road was arrested by Ranchi police in April for allegedly selling Remdesivir at high cost. Police had recovered Remdesivir from his possession. Another accused Manish Sinha is an employee of Shristhi Hospital. Ranchi SP (Rural) Naushad Alam landed in controversy as Singh confessed that he had arranged Remdesivir Alam who wanted this medicine for a person named Guddu. Alam was made an approver of the case. The high court had expressed displeasure over CID for making Alam as approval without approval and knowledge of the high court.
The court during hearing on Thursday said that why IPS should not be presumed as a protector to people indulged in blackmarketing since he purchased medicine from very people. Instead of he was made an approver. The court asked whether the IPS had informed his superiors about the blackmarketing. The court further observed that the investigation report indicates that the SIT is trying to divert investigation from private hospitals to RIMS.
