Haryana daughter wins Gold at World Wrestling Championship in Hungary

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday extended best wishes and congratulated wrestler Priya Malik, from the state for making the country and the state proud at an international level by winning gold in the 73 kg category at the World Wrestling Championship held in Hungary.

In a statement issued here, the Chief Minister said that this happy news of the daughter of Haryana winning gold comes just a day after Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu who has become the first Indian weightlifter to win an Olympic silver medal.

The Chief Minister said that he hopes that like Mirabai Chanu and Priya Malik, other Indian players would also bring laurels to the country.

Home and Health Minister Anil Vij has also congratulated wrestler Priya Malik.

On the last day of the World cadet championship, Priya Malik had defeated the Belarusian wrestler 5-0 in the final match of the 73-kg weight category.

Notably, Malik had won gold medals in Khelo India in Pune in the year 2019, 17th School Games in Delhi in 2019 and National Cadet Championship in Patna in 2020.  She had also won a gold medal in the National School Games competition held in 2020.
