Dance, dialogue, musical event held on Tulsi Jayanti

A two day focused on devotional music, dance and dialogue on the occasion of Tulsi Jayanti began from Saturday.

It is being organised by Tribal Folk Arts and Language Development Academy at Tulsi Shodh Sansthan-Chitrakoot by the Government of Madhya Pradesh, Culture Department.

The 'Tulsi Jayanti' celebrations are being organized online through the department's social media platform and YouTube channel.

The programme began with 'Bhakti Sangeet' by Deepti Gedam Parmar and group, Bhopal and 'Lecture' focused on Hanuman's devotion by Acharya Mithila Prasad Tripathi, Indore.

The presentation started with a 'Lecture' centered on the devotion of Hanuman by Acharya Mithila Prasad Tripathi. In the lecture, Acharya Mithila Prasad Tripathi told that as soon as the story of Rama is told, the greater the understanding of Sita and Rama, the more eloquent character of Hanuman. Hanuman's entry into Tulsi's psyche is different, its place and its form are different, Tulsi is the first to see Hanuman and it is because of Hanuman that Rama and Lakshmana were seen by Tulsidas in Chitrakoot.

He said that in the Ramcharitmanas and other texts of Tulsidas, described the character of Hanuman as the messenger of Ram or the description of his nature, power has been given.

The second presentation was 'Bhakti Sangeet' by Deepti Gedam Parmar and Saathi, Bhopal in which Deepti performed the hymns of Sant Tulsidas. She began with Ganesh Vandana- 'Gaiye Ganapati Gajvandan', after that 'Raghuvar Tumko Meri Laj', 'Janaki Nath Sahai', 'Tu Hai Dayal Din Hai, Tu Dani Hai' hymns were presented.

She also presented Thumak Chalat Ramchandra Bajat Painjaniya Bhajan while wrapping up the performance.

In the presentation Deepti was accompanied by Manoj Patidar on Tabla, on Harmonium by Jitendra Sharma and Tanpura by Samiksha Joshi.

Deepti started her early education in music from the age of four from her father  Prakash Gedam and teacher Inda Gedam. At present, she is receiving special training in khyal singing and thumri, tappa, dadra, chaturanga, trivat from famous singer Pt. Sajjanlal Brahmbhatt Rasrang of Gwalior gharana.

Deepti received gold medal in classical music (Hindustani singing) at the 12th National Youth Festival, Pune, held in 2007. She has given successful presentation in many prestigious forums of the country. Presently she is 'B' high grade artist of Akashvani- Doordarshan Bhopal.
