Highly regarded by clients for his hands-on approach, technical knowledge and negotiating skills, Anish Jaipuriar (30)-a partner at AKS Partners, New Delhi has been recognised by renowned India Business Law Journal as one of India’s 50 up and coming Future Legal Leaders of 2021. Jaipuriar is also Head of General Corporate, Mergers and Acquisitions with the firm.
“This award has been a massive resounding of my decision to go independent and start my own practice. It is very humbling to be included in such a prestigious list and especially when you see your peers who have also been ranked in the same. I feel honoured and hope to continue to do better and also expand my practice with time,” said Jaipuriar.
Jaipuriar specialises in corporate and commercial laws including arbitrations and has also represented a large number of local and international corporates on both corporate, transactional as well as dispute resolution. The budding entrepreneur has also advised major corporates and some of India’s biggest companies on a wide spectrum of issues pertaining to corporate and commercial law.
Jaipuriar’s commercial acumen has further enabled him to provide distinguished support to the arbitration team of the firm in general and also with respect to the commercial and transactional issues arising in such arbitrations. His competencies include a unique mix of corporate and litigation as he has been appointed as arguing counsel in Supreme Court of India for State of Jharkhand.
“I feel the unique thing about me is that I am a pure corporate and commercial attorney which means that while I am advising on the corporate end of a company, I also a have the expertise to advise on dispute resolution in particular arbitrations. One may not find a lot of lawyers doing this kind of mixed work,” remarked Jaipuriar.
In addition to this, Jaipuriar is also empanelled for Punjab National Bank, Steel Authority of India Limited and Central Coalfields Limited.
Born in Gaya, Bihar, Jaipuriar was brought up in Bokaro where he completed his matriculation from DPS, Bokaro and later completed his schooling from Amity International School, New Delhi. A law graduate from National Law University Odisha (NLUO), he has also done a certificate course on International Financial Law and Regulations from London School of Economics and Political Science.
During his graduation days at NLUO, Jaipuriar was the first student to be issued a pre- placement offer from a top tier law firm called Khaitan & Co LLP, New Delhi. He later joined Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co New Delhi.
“During my college days I was very active in academics and was an avid mooter. Initially I wanted to become an economist but I guess destiny had other plans for me. I decided to give law a try and since then have never doubted my decision,” said the budding entrepreneur who is also very fond of travelling and trying different cuisines.
Residents of Morhabadi, Ranchi, his father Jaishankar Jaipuriar is a practicing Chartered Accountant and Member, CSR Committee, Government of Jharkhand and his mother Leena Jaipuriar is a social worker. His wife Raj Rajeshwari is also a Delhi based lawyer with specialisation in tax and commercials .
