The South Delhi Municipal corporation (SDMC) has extended the last date of payment of property tax with 15 per cent rebate for timely payment for the lumpsum payment of the property tax for the year 2020-21 to 31 August 2020. Earlier the last date was 31st July, 2020.
Amit Kumar Sharma IRS (SDMC) informed that till date 2,40,000 tax payers have submitted their property tax through which SDMC has garnered an income of Rs 295 Crore. Last year in the same period 2,62,000 tax payers had submitted their property tax through which SDMC garnered Rs 430 Crore.
In order to maximise its tax collection SDMC has organised special camps in all its four zones such as Central zone-104, Najafgarh zone-57, South zone-114, West zone-173.
Sharma further added that we are fully committed to serve people and we are ready to work throughout the year 24 hours a day. “Online system of paying property tax is being upgraded and made seamless and if residents are facing any issues we are promptly ready to help,” he said.
Rajdutt Gahlot chairman Standing committee SDMC said that Amnesty scheme for residential and commercial taxpayers is introduced in which their previous tax has been waived and they have to submit property tax for financial years 2019/20 and 2020/21 the last date to submit tax is extended to 31st August.
“For the ease of residents we are going to organise special camps in these colonies and further we are introducing the facility of online submission of property tax for them,” he further said.
Gahlot further added that this decision has been taken to facilitate the property tax payers who could not deposit the property tax availing the benefit of 15 per cent for timely payment.
