Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with street vendors of the state regarding Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor’s Atmanirbhar Nidhi programme on October 27.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also be present during the virtual programme.

As per a government official, loans will also be disbursed among three lakh street vendors and three lakh small shopkeepers of 651 municipal corporations under the Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana, a component of Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan.

The PM SVANidhi was launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on June 01, 2020 for providing affordable working capital loans to street vendors to resume their livelihood that was adversely affected due to the COVID-19 lockdown.

The duration of the scheme is until March 2022.

As per the scheme guidelines, a vendor is a person engaged in selling articles, goods, wares, food items or merchandise of daily use or offering services to public in a street, footpath, pavement etc. from a temporary structure or by moving from place to place.

The goods supplied by them include vegetables, fruits, ready-to-eat street food, tea, pakodas, breads, eggs, textile, apparel, artisan products, books/stationery etc. and the services include barber shops, cobblers, pan shops, laundry services etc.
