Around two and a half thousand Assistant Police Personnel of Jharkhand created uproar on Saturday at Morabadi Ground of the State Capital. The Assistant Police Personnel gathered at the place from all across the State to protest in support of their demands. They are demanding regularisation of their job.

The incident took place when talk was going on between a delegation of the Police Personnel and senior Police Officials of Ranchi District in which DIG, Akhilesh Kumar Jha and Senior Superintendent of Police, Surendra Kumar Jha were present along with other officials. During the talk a lady Assistant Police Personnel fell down after getting fainted. After that the protesting personnel created a huge uproar like situation on the spot. The lady was admitted to the hospital.  Then the DIG and the SSP invited the delegation to the Chief Minister’s Office for a talk and till the time of filing the report the talks were going on. 

In the morning strong security arrangements were made as the protesters planned to gherao the Chief Minister’s House .

Around two and a half thousand men and women were appointed as Assistant Police Personnel in the year 2017 on the assurance of permanent reinstatement. Supporting policemen worked with black badges from September 4 to 6 to fulfil their demands. The personnel working on the post of Assistant Police say that their restoration was done in the year 2017 at the time of the then Raghubar Government.

There are 800 women among them. Their contract period was extended for one year and the period ended in August 2020, but their contract was not renewed. As many as 150 Assistant Police were reinstated in Lohardaga.

At present, 132 of them are working in the district.

The State Government has sought a report from the Superintendent of Police from all the 24 districts of the State that what is their utility?

A decision will be taken only after that. They have been employed for the last 3 years by keeping only Rs 10,000 on honorarium.

These assistant police personnel have been given duty at other places including traffic, security, bank, collector’s gate and have been employed in various programmes. There is a lot of anger against the Government among the assistant police personnel of Jharkhand. They were restored in 12 insurgency affected districts of the State.
