A two-day workshop was organised by NSPCL on Engine on Load. With a view to improve the utilisation of the rolling stock, and help the power stations in prompt clearance of freight trains from their terminals, the introduction of Engine on Load operations has been introduced by the Railway.
The scheme carries a host of features which form an innovative industrial mechanism. Under the EOL, the train engine will remain available during loading or unloading operation in the siding and wait on railway’s account so that the train functions immediately after the loading or unloading operation. NTPC has implemented the scheme at its Simhadri station and its joint venture unit at NSPCL Bhilai following the traditions of operational excellence.
The workshop was attended by the representatives of NTPC stations across the country. The scheme once implemented will lead to cost optimisation and reduction in energy charges.
The inaugural session was graced by NTPC officials — Prakash Tiwari, director (Operations), Anirban Dasgupta, CEO Bhilai steel plant, KK Singh, RED (NR), Tejveer Singh, Director, Srinivas, ED, SD Prasad, ED(FM), and PK Bondriya, CEO, NSPCL. Senior officials from South East Central Railway, Bilaspur were also present during the workshop.
