The Kuanrmunda police outpost Officer-in-Charge was placed under suspension on Saturday for his alleged link with coal mafias in Sundargarh district. In November 2018, a team led by SDPO Balabhadra Deep had conducted a raid on illegal transportation of coal movement near Bhasma bridge over Ib river and seized as many five coal-laden trucks and detained the driver and helpers.

Subsequently, Kuanarmunda OIC Anil Parida was appointed IO of the case. It might be mentioned here that the raid was conducted with inputs that few coal mafias are engaged in illegal coal mining and trading from Hemgiri area of the district.

Sources said IO Parida, instead of nabbing the coal mafias involved in this racket had allegedly given them protection and had forwarded only the drivers and helpers nabbed during the raid.

The allegation of involvement of Parida had come to the knowledge of Sundargarh SP Soumya Mishra, following which she ordered for a probe.

Under her instruction, police arrested five person involved in illegal coal trading were arrested and during their grilling they admitted about Parida’s nexus with them.

“We have placed OIC Anil Parida under suspension on the charge of his involvement with illegal coal traders and other irregularities,” said the SP.
