The National Human Rights Commission has sought an action-taken report from the Odisha Health and Family Welfare Secretary and Angul district SP regarding the death of a woman due to administering of a wrong injection.
The NHRC passed the order taking cognisance of a petition filed by civil society organisation Human Rights Watch secretary Sangita Swain.
In her petition Swain had alleged that a woman Pranati Pradhan, wife of Samerndra Pradhan of Kulhada village in Angul district died in Chandan Nursing Home in Similipada due to administering of wrong anesthesia injection given by untrained nurse.
She alleged that Chandan Nursing Home and other clinics have mushroomed in the district violating the Government norms and guidelines.
The Collector, DWO, CDMO are silent and encouraging such practices for which several aforesaid incidents are increasing violating human rights, she further alleged.
She prayed the commission to probe the incident by its investigating team and take suitable action against the guilty. She also requested for payment of compensation of Rs 25 lakh to next of kin of the deceased.
