Based on a tip-off, the district cyber crime cell on Saturday evening busted a cyber criminals gang and arrested five of its members in Ghosko village of Giridih.
The accused have been identified as Manoj Mandal, Suresh Mandal, Babloo Mandal, Pankaj Mandal and Sunil Kumar Mandal. They hail from different villages under Ahilyapur police station areas of Giridih. The cell also seized one Alto car, three bikes, eight mobile phones, five ATM cards, SIM cards, and dozens of PAN cards from the accused.
DSP Sandeep Suman said around 12 criminals are still operating across the region.”The accused are between 20-22 years of ages. Some of them are working under the guidance of their parents and extended family members,” said the DSP.
Sources said that on Saturday evening five or six members’ team of Cyber Cell of Giridih, led by Dy SP Sandeep Suman rushed to Ghosko village to nab the all five cyber criminals.
Giving detailed of Cyber criminals’ modus operandi, the DSP said that criminals used to call several customers as bank officials and asked their pin numbers, if they failed to disclose their pin number, they used to say that that the customers’ accounts would be closed.
Suman also said that during their interrogation, the gang revealed the names of some people they had duped in the recent past. The police also seized their pass books from their possession and unearthed their account details.
