Cong issues show-cause notice to Aditi Singh

Saturday, 05 October 2019 | PNS | Lucknow

Congress MLA from Sadar Assembly constituency in Rae Bareli, Aditi Singh, faced the ire of her partymen on Friday as local leaders staged a demonstration outside her office while Congress Legislature Party leader issued a show-cause notice to her for defying whip and attending the 36-hour special session of the Uttar Pradesh legislature.

In the show-cause notice, Aditi Singh has been asked to file her reply within two days after which necessary disciplinary action will be initiated against her.

“The party had decided to boycott the two-day session of the House and had also issued a whip to ensure that no MLA attends it. You were also informed about it individually but you defied the party instructions,” CLP leader Ajay Kumar ‘Lallu’ said in the notice son Aditi Singh on Friday.

“You defied party whip and took part in the proceedings. This amounts to indiscipline and anti-party activity,” the CLP leader said, asking her to submit the reply in two days or else action will be taken against her.

Aditi Singh, who had remained absent from Congress’ Gandhi Jayanti functions led by party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on October 2, surprised all by attending the proceedings of the UP Assembly the same evening on the plea of “rising above party lines”.

The Bharatiya Janata Party rewarded the Congress MLA by providing her Y-Plus category security and a police escort vehicle within 24 hours of her attending the special session.

It may be mentioned that Aditi Singh has not given any excuses for attending the special session and has said that she is ready for any action taken by the party.

Meanwhile, upset by the ‘poaching’ of local Congress leaders by BJP, the local leaders of the grand old party in Rae Bareli staged a demonstration outside Aditi Singh’s office on Friday, demanding her immediate resignation.

The Congress workers who squatted on roads carried placards with slogans against the Congress MLA.

The protesters said that if Aditi Singh had faith in BJP she must show some morality and resign from the Assembly and contest on BJP ticket.

It may be mentioned that the manner in which BJP is poaching Congress leaders, they are now eyeing also to wrest Rae Bareli parliamentary constituency from the grand old party after defeating Rahul Gandhi in Amethi in the recent Lok Sabha election.

After Congress MLC Dinesh Pratap Singh and his MLA brother Rakesh Pratap Singh, shifted their loyalty to BJP and senior leader and former MP Sanjay Singh, and his wife Amita Singh, also a former MLA, recently joined the BJP, Aditi Singh is also set to join the saffron party. Sanjay Singh’s first wife Garima Singh, also joined BJP and is also a MLA from Amethi.
