Thursday, 15 August 2019 | PNS | ATHAGARH

Even famous Shakti Peeth Maa Bhattarika was not spared from the flood fury triggered by incessant rains in upper stream and downstream of river Mahanadi with the

presiding deity being shifted to a safer location after the shrine was submerged in floodwater on Wednesday morning.

The temple situated at Badamba on the Mahanadi bank in Athagarh sub-division of Cuttack district was inundated with floodwater, following

which the idol of Goddess Bhattarika was relocated to a higher place of a hill for worship.

Reports said the floodwater was flowing 5 feet above the Huluhula bridge disrupting the road communication between Tigiria and Subarnapur. Hundreds of acres of farmlands were been affected being submerged in floodwater.
