The Utkal Sammilani observed the 66th death anniversary of Kantakabi Laxmikanta Mohapatra and paid floral tributes at his statue near the General Post Office here on Sunday. Sammilani Mancheswar branch president Dillip Dashsharma presided over the meeting. The Kantakabi’s heirs Guru Kalyan Mohapatra, Sita Ballav Mohapatra and and Prabhu Kalyan Mahapatra also paid tributes to the legendary poet.
Dashsharma said that the State Government is showing callous attitude towards providing the Kantakabi’s ‘Bande Utkal Janani’ song the status of State anthem. Among others, Utkal Sammilani branch VP Sital Chandra Mohanty, secretary Govind Subudhi, senior members Shiv Prasad Mishra, Basanti Tripathy, Akhaya Kumar Jethi, Siddharth Sankar Gadnayak, Ketra Mohan Nayak, Ajay Kanungo and Maheswar Biswal were present.
