Cong demands B'pur Mayor resign soon

Thursday, 15 February 2018 | PNS | BRAHMAPUR

Politics has warmed up in Brahmapur following disqualification of Corporator and Mayor posts of K Madhavi by the District and Sessions Judge Court here on Tuesday.

While the court disqualified Madhavi’s posts over her marriage and ‘no Odia knowledge’ issues, Madhvi said she was yet to receive the court judgement and would move to High Court, if required.

“I have trust in judiciary. I have to first read the verdict and, if required, I would move the High Court for justice,” Madhvi said in her reaction.

Meanwhile, the Congress welcomed the verdict and demanded that Madhavi resign from her post soon.

“Madhavi should resign from her post soon giving respect to the verdict of the court,” demanded Congress district president Bhagaban Gantayat and spokesperson Pitabas Panda in a statement.
